Consent, data protection and communal systems

Cameras that cover anything beyond your own boundary bring data protection duties, and in a flat or a listed block you'll need the freeholder's consent before anything is fixed to the building.

Rules change and every property is different. We confirm what applies to yours in writing at the survey rather than leaving you to guess.

Can you install CCTV on a flat or a listed block?

Usually, with the freeholder's consent, and with care about where cables and cameras go on a listed facade. We deal with this regularly.

Wireless or wired?

Wired wherever we can. Wireless is convenient and less reliable, and reliability is the entire point of a security system.

Can you replace a communal video entry system?

Yes — we work on communal entrance systems in mansion blocks, including the door release and the wiring back to each flat.

Do I need to be technical to use it?

No. We set the apps up, add the users and show you how it works before we leave.
