Emanuel was appointed after a customer recommendation to carry out a substantial project in Maida Vale involving two neighbouring properties, with both homeowners choosing to build rear extensions at the same time.
Coordinating the two together meant labour, materials, deliveries and trades could be managed far more efficiently — which had practical advantages during construction and helped both owners reduce their costs compared with running the projects independently.
Careful coordination was needed throughout the structural phase, with work taking place to adjoining properties simultaneously. The extensions were designed to create larger, brighter living areas and a better connection between the houses and their gardens.

Alongside the two extensions, one of the properties was completely refurbished internally — considerably more than cosmetic improvements, coordinated from the initial building works through to the final decoration.
The extended ground floor became a modern, spacious living environment with a new kitchen designed into the redesigned space, so that the original house and the new area read as one home rather than two. Electrical and plumbing services were adapted and extended throughout to suit the new layout, with new flooring and tiling, bespoke fitted wardrobes and display cabinets, and full decoration.

The project continued beyond the buildings. Once construction was complete, both rear gardens were landscaped so the external spaces complemented the new extensions rather than being left disturbed after the scaffold came down.
